OnceCal Free vs Pro vs Premium: Which Plan Fits Your Booking Page
Written by OnceCal team

Choosing a scheduling plan should feel like picking tools for the job you have this quarter — not like decoding a maze of seats, “Essentials,” and add-ons. OnceCal keeps the ladder short on purpose: Free forever, Pro for $9 one time, and Premium for $5 per month as an optional add-on that requires Pro.
This post is a plan chooser tied to real booking-page needs: event limits, branding, ads on the page, reminders, intake, custom domain, and payments. It is not a doorway “versus” page stuffed with competitor trademarks. Where we mention other products’ public pricing patterns, we keep it factual and sparse. Soft CTAs only; no invented conversion rates or testimonials.
The three plans in one minute
| Plan | Price | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 forever | Real booking page with basics; ads + OnceCal branding on the page |
| Pro | $9 one-time | Unlocks the full feature set; ads + OnceCal branding still present |
| Premium | $5/mo (requires Pro) | Removes ads and OnceCal branding for a cleaner client-facing page |
Two fee facts that sit beside plan price:
- Paid bookings: OnceCal charges a flat $0.02 per paid booking on every plan. Free (non-paid) bookings have zero OnceCal fee.
- Stripe: When you collect money, Stripe’s processing fees apply separately (commonly described as 2.9% + $0.30 for many U.S. card charges — confirm in your Stripe dashboard). OnceCal does not replace Stripe.
Also useful: you do not need a card to start Free. Pro has a 30-day refund if you are not happy. Canceling Premium keeps Pro — Pro is not a subscription you can accidentally lose.
Free: when “good enough” is actually good
Free is for operators who need a link live this week and are still shaping their offer.
What Free includes (as published on pricing)
- 3 event types
- Unlimited bookings
- Google Calendar sync
- Email confirmations
- Payment collection ($0.02 per paid booking)
- Ads on booking pages
- OnceCal branding on booking pages
Free fits you if
- You have one primary service plus maybe a discovery call and one more slot.
- Confirmations are enough for now (you will follow up manually when needed).
- You are okay with ads and OnceCal branding while you validate demand.
- You want payment collection without paying a monthly seat just to take a deposit.
Free starts to feel tight when
- You need a fourth distinct event type (package tiers, workshops, follow-ups).
- Clients need day-before / day-of reminders, not only the confirmation.
- You want custom intake questions tailored by service.
- You care about custom colors/branding, custom domain, bulk reschedule tools, or Dot-assisted setup drafts.
- Priority support would change how fast you recover from a config mistake.
If none of those are blocking you, stay on Free. Paying for features you will not configure this month is how freelancers recreate the subscription trap with extra steps.
Pro ($9 once): unlock features, keep monthly cost optional
Pro is the intentional “own the tool” tier. You pay once; the unlocked features stay. That is the core product bet: scheduling should not rent your calendar forever.
What Pro unlocks (as published on pricing)
- Unlimited event types
- Unlimited bookings
- Custom branding and colors
- Payment collection ($0.02 per paid booking)
- Custom intake questions
- Dot (in-app AI assistant)
- Bulk reschedule and cancel
- Email reminders
- Google Calendar sync
- Custom domain support
- Priority support
- Ads still on booking pages
- OnceCal branding still on booking pages
Notice what Pro does not claim to remove: ads and OnceCal branding. That is Premium’s job. If a sales page somewhere implies Pro is already ad-free, treat that as a bug to fix — the pricing page is clear.
Pro fits you if at least one of these is true
- Offer complexity: You run distinct discovery, paid, and kickoff (or package) types and hate stuffing them into three Free slots.
- No-show pressure: You need reminder cadence, not just confirmation.
- Client polish without a monthly seat: Custom branding, intake, and optionally a custom domain.
- Ops load: Bulk reschedule/cancel when a travel day or illness hits.
- Setup speed: You want Dot to draft event types/copy — and you will still review every word before going live.
How to decide without spiraling
Write the blocker in one sentence: “I cannot ship X on Free.” If X is on the Pro list, upgrade. If X is “remove ads,” that is Premium, not Pro. If X is “I saw someone else pay monthly and feel behind,” that is not a blocker — that is social pressure.
Premium ($5/mo): optional cleanliness on top of Pro
Premium requires Pro. It exists for one primary reason: a clean, professional booking experience without ads and without OnceCal branding on the page.
What Premium adds
- Everything in Pro
- No ads on booking pages
- No OnceCal branding
- Cleaner client-facing presentation
Premium fits you if
- You already need Pro features, and
- Your brand standards (or client expectations) make ads feel off-brand, or
- You share booking links in premium proposals, agency contexts, or regulated-looking professional services where third-party chrome is a distraction.
Skip Premium (for now) if
- You are still on Free and mainly need reminders/intake/domain — buy Pro first.
- Ads do not bother you or your clients in practice.
- Cash is tight and Pro alone already solves the operational problem.
Canceling Premium
You keep Pro and all Pro features. Ads and OnceCal branding return on the booking page. There is no “lose everything” cliff. That design detail matters for trust: Premium is a polish subscription, not a hostage feature gate for the whole product.
Decision tree you can actually use
Step 1 — Can you live with 3 event types + confirmations + ads/branding? Yes → Free. No → continue.
Step 2 — Is your pain “features” or “remove ads/branding”? Features (reminders, intake, branding controls, domain, bulk tools, Dot, unlimited event types) → Pro. Only ads/branding removal → you still need Pro underneath; then add Premium.
Step 3 — After Pro, do ads still bother you on real client links? No → stay Pro-only. Yes → Premium.
Step 4 — Revisit in 60 days. Quiet seasons happen. If Premium feels optional, cancel it and keep Pro. If Free suddenly blocks a fourth service type, unlock Pro then — not “someday.”
Payments, fees, and plan myths
Myth: “I must be on Pro to take payments.”
No. Payment collection is available on Free and Pro (and thus Premium). Same flat $0.02 OnceCal fee per paid booking.
Myth: “The $0.02 replaces Stripe.”
No. Stripe processing fees are separate and set by Stripe.
Myth: “Premium is required for a professional look.”
Not required. Custom branding and colors are Pro. Premium removes ads and OnceCal branding; it does not invent professionalism by itself. Clear event copy, honest availability, and working confirmations do more for trust than a pricing tier name.
Myth: “One-time Pro means no ongoing costs ever.”
Pro itself is one-time. You may still pay: Stripe fees on charged bookings, the $0.02 OnceCal fee on paid bookings, optional Premium, and any domain registrar costs if you use a custom domain. That is normal business overhead — just not a per-seat scheduling subscription.
Booking-page checklist by plan
Use this when you preview your invitee flow:
All plans
- Event titles in client language
- Timezone clarity
- Working hours you can keep
- Calendar sync verified with a test busy block
- Confirmation content that states join instructions
Especially after Pro
- Distinct event types instead of one overloaded “Call”
- Intake questions that change how you prepare
- Reminder timing that is firm, not spammy
- Branding colors that match your site
- Custom domain only if the URL is part of your brand promise
Especially after Premium
- Click through as a client on mobile: confirm ads/branding are gone
- Recheck after you cancel/reactivate Premium so you know the exact visual difference
Soft next step
Start on Free if you are validating. Move to Pro for $9 once when a concrete feature blocks you. Add Premium at $5/mo only if you want an ad-free, unbranded booking page on top of Pro. Compare the live feature list on the pricing page before you buy — plans can gain clarity over time, and the pricing page is the source of truth.
